About Me
I am an experienced therapist having worked extensively with adults, couples and families for 13 years. In this time I have had an independent practice alongside working with a local charity as clinical lead for a child and family service. I run courses for adults on Biography Work, and have contributed to the Biographical Counselling training programme where I was also a Trustee (2015 - 2017).
As well as having an accredited Counselling Diploma I also have an MSc in Family Therapy, (also known as Systemic Psychotherapy). In the last two years I have held an honorary contract with Birmingham NHS Trust offering family therapy, consultancy and supervision in out-patient CAMHS and within an inpatient specialist eating disorder unit. I have experience in incorporating a multi disciplinary approach into my work where I work alongside the input of other professionals, carers and those involved in treatment. I currently offer systemic supervision and training to a therapeutic supported living placement in Gloucester.
I attend regular CPD events related to my personal and professional development, and have had my own psychotherapy and counselling in different forms (including family therapy).
I am registered and accredited with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a member of AFT (Association of Family Therapists), and the colleagues I work with abide by and work in accordance with these clinical and professional guidelines and codes of ethics. I am also on the register of Preferred Providers for Gloucestershire County Council and can accept referrals from Social Workers and other professionals in the county..
I have an up to date certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), and am fully insured with Professional Indemnity Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance. I am up-to-date with safeguarding training.
CPD experience and areas of interest include: Sex in psychotherapy, working with dissociation, trauma and the effects of neglect and sexual violence, mindfulness, meditation and contemplative enquiry, working with the inner child, humanising the workplace, leadership and role development in organisations, holistic health care for children and families.
